Split-Level Home
Submitted on 10/10/2007 by Michigan Geothermal Energy Association.
Originally constructed in 1974 with a two-furnace, forced-air, electric system, this 4,400 sq. ft. home was converted to geothermal using a well and open loop system. The conversion cost $10,000 and produced savings of $4,000 per year, yielding a payback in less than three years.
The owner likes how "comfortable" his home now is year-round, and notes that he doesn't use either a humidifier or de-humidifier.
